Info
On March 5, 2027, Jools Holland will perform at Theater Kerkrade, and that means: piano at full tilt, a rhythm that keeps pushing, and a sound that leans on rhythm & blues, boogie-woogie and swing. Holland began in the late seventies as the founding pianist of Squeeze, but later built a live reputation primarily under his own name, where virtuosic, rapid phrasing and rock ’n’ roll energy meet with a band feeling that sometimes borders on big band.
With his Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, he has been touring the UK and Europe for years, with room for screaming brass, tight grooves and that typical blend of blues, soul and swing. Don’t expect a tame piano recital, but a show that feels like a speeding train: tight, dynamic, and made to move you along. His own records, from Sex & Jazz & Rock & Roll to Small World Big Band, give a good idea of the breadth he brings to his live performances in Kerkrade as well.
