Info
On November 1, 2026 in Glasgow, Tortoise bring their singular idea of instrumental rock to the stage at Queen Margaret Union. Formed in Chicago in 1990, the quintet—Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Douglas McCombs, John McEntire and Jeff Parker—has built a sound that slips between post-rock, jazz phrasing, dub weight and electronic detail without settling into any one box.
Live is where their music really clicks: tight but never rigid, driven by group dynamics rather than frontman energy, with rhythms that can turn on a dime and textures that keep mutating in real time. Expect the kind of set that nods to key records like Millions Now Living Will Never Die, TNT and Standards, while leaving plenty of room for the band’s trademark sense of movement, layering and left-field groove.
