Info
Takuya Nakamura does not view jazz and electronic music as opposites, but as a single playing field. The Tokyo-born trumpeter, keyboardist, producer, and DJ has long linked his classical jazz training with the sounds of New York's underground scenes: jungle, broken beat, urban textures, along with improvisation with a clear sense for arrangement and rhythm.
On 18 October 2026, Nakamura brings this approach to Gretchen in Berlin. In a live setting, one can expect a setup that switches back and forth between instrument and machine, with plenty of room for collective playing and spontaneous turns, without losing the club pulse. His involvement in projects such as Jojo Mayer's Nerve and CocoRosie, as well as collaborations with Quincy Jones, David Byrne, or Arto Lindsay, is less about namedropping and more a testament to his versatility: a musician who does not simply serve genres but bridges them.
