Ant TC1

Active since the late 1990s on the British drum & bass scene, Ant TC1 gradually established himself within the northern England club network, particularly around Leeds, before becoming known as a DJ, producer and label director. Based in the UK and also credited as TC1, Ant TC1 shapes the identity of Dispatch Recordings as its artistic director by developing a drum & bass focused on stripped-down rhythms, deep bass and a dark, functional aesthetic. His productions and collaborations, released mainly on Dispatch, fall into a techstep and rolling vein, with an emphasis on dynamics and tension rather than sonic exuberance. He has also contributed several mixes and compilations to the label, extending the musical line sketched out in clubs into longer formats. Behind the decks, Ant TC1 performs regularly in clubs and festivals across the UK and Europe, often in connection with Dispatch events, and adapts his approach to contexts oriented both to dancers and to aficionados of the more cutting-edge drum & bass.
