On March 11, 2027, Sona Jobarteh will be performing in concert at Paul B in Massy. A singer, composer and renowned kora player, she roots herself in the Manding tradition while opening it to acoustic folk colors, Afro-pop and, at times, jazz. Born into a lineage of griots and trained between The Gambia and the United Kingdom, she carries music that is both anchored and contemporary, propelled by kora motifs, with a clear voice and restrained arrangements.
On stage, her songs move between Manding and English, between intimate narratives and collective consciousness, with that sense of groove and melody that allows energy to circulate without forcing it. From Afro-Acoustic Soul to Fasiya, up to Badinyaa Kumoo, she unfolds a repertoire where virtuosity remains at the service of the songs and of emotion.
