Info
On December 20, 2026, Damien Dempsey brings his raw, straight-to-the-bone songwriting to Vicar Street in Dublin. A Dublin singer and songwriter with a voice shaped by the city’s everyday realities, he moves easily between folk storytelling, Irish tradition and acoustic ballads, with the occasional reggae sway that keeps the grooves warm without losing the grit.
Expect songs carried by his unmistakable Dublin accent, where personal stories brush up against social pressure, memory, and that streak of popular spirituality that runs through his work. Across a catalogue stretching from early landmarks like They Don’t Teach This Shit in School to more recent records including Hold Your Joy, Dempsey’s gigs tend to feel like a shared singalong as much as a conversation: direct words, simple melodies, and a real sense of community in the room.
