Theo Parrish, a DJ and producer from Washington, D.C., will be at Standard Time in Toronto on July 26, 2026, starting at 6:00 p.m. Active since the mid-1990s, he sits at the heart of Detroit house history while opening it to disco, jazz, soul, and more free-form structures, with tracks often slow, gritty, and deliberately off-center.
After Lake Shore Drive in 1995 and the Baby Steps EP in 1996, he founded the Sound Signature label in 1997, a cornerstone of his discography. His debut album, First Floor, was released in 1998, followed notably by Parallel Dimensions in 2000, Sound Sculptures Volume 1 in 2007, Sketches in 2010, American Intelligence in 2014, and Wuddaji in 2020. A DJ as much as a producer, Theo Parrish is also associated with the collective projects 3 Chairs, alongside Moodymann, Rick Wilhite, and Marcellus Pittman, as well as with The Rotating Assembly and T.O.M. Project. His sets, often long and traversing several traditions of Black American music, circulate between clubs, festivals, and international electronic stages.
