Big Country will be on stage in Belfast on March 14, 2027, at Limelight, with the sound that made them stand out early on in the UK post‑punk and new wave landscape. Formed in Dunfermline in 1981 around Stuart Adamson (formerly of Skids) alongside Bruce Watson, Tony Butler and Mark Brzezicki, the band quickly carved out its own space: tight, melodic rock built on guitars that often echo the lift and phrasing of Scottish traditional music, almost like bagpipes without ever leaving the rock format.
That signature runs through key records like The Crossing (1983), Steeltown (1984), The Seer (1986) and Peace in Our Time (1988), then shifts toward a more straightforward writing style on albums such as No Place Like Home (1991), Why the Long Face (1995) and Driving to Damascus (1999), flirting with FM rock, folk rock and rootsy accents. After Adamson’s death in 2001, Big Country returned to the stage from 2007 onward, with Bruce Watson at the core, and later released The Journey in 2013.
