Info
On 2 December 2026, O2 Academy Islington, London brings together two enduring UK bands: Big Country and The Alarm for a shared night on stage.
Big Country formed in Dunfermline in 1981 around Stuart Adamson, first sketched in the post-punk and new wave era before carving a distinct sound where bright, tight guitars carry echoes of Scottish folk. The Crossing, Steeltown and The Seer set the tone, later followed by more direct songwriting on Why the Long Face and Driving to Damascus. Back on the road since 2007 with configurations led by Bruce Watson, the band draws on a catalogue that balances energy, melody and roots.
The Alarm emerged the same year out of Rhyl’s punk scene, shifting between acoustic strum and electric surge, with sharp hooks and a clear Welsh identity. Early singles like The Stand, Blaze of Glory, Sixty Eight Guns and Spirit of ’76 opened the way to Declaration, Strength and Eye of the Hurricane, then a series of albums revived in the 2000s and beyond, up to Forwards and Music Television. Their sets typically span eras and keep the songs front and center.
