Born where the Dust Bowl never died, the West Texas-raised trio that is Shallowater - Blake Skipper (guitar/vocals), Tristan Kelly (bass) and Ryan Faulkenberry (drums) - combines slowcore, post-hardcore, country and Americana elements. The trio’s self-described "raw West Texas dirtgaze" situates the band among current alternative genre-blending projects.
The band put out their sophomore record God's Gonna Give You a Million Dollars in September 2025. Produced by Alex Farrar (MJ Lenderman, Wednesday, Indigo de Souza), the record walks the line of country and slowcore, with heavy, distorted instrumentals and soft, dynamic reprises, and includes a feature from fellow West Texas musician Hayden Pedigo.
