Info
Weatherday brings their shape-shifting bedroom rock to The Hope & Ruin in Brighton on 20 May 2026. The solo project of Swedish artist Lola, also known as Sputnik, moves between lo-fi emo grit, noise-pop abrasion and shoegaze haze. Built from layered guitars, clipped drums and filtered vocals, the songs slide through abrupt turns and fragile melodies, keeping that DIY pulse that first caught ears with the self-recorded 2019 album Come In and the 2022 collaboration Weatherglow.
On stage, the set leans into Hornet Disaster, a new chapter that threads restless hooks with chaotic bursts. There’s the title track’s jolt, the springy emo pull of Angel paired with Heartbeats, and some sly left turns: a downtempo detour nodding to electronic influences, a first song in Swedish with Pulka, and even a brush of renaissance flute on Green Tea Seaweed Sea. Ripped Apart By Hands pushes toward folktronica textures, stretching the Weatherday palette without losing the raw, room-made energy. Psychic & Wellbeing Event and Splitting Gums open the night.
