Weatherday
Born as a solo project within the online DIY sphere, Weatherday brings together the work of Lola from Sweden, who also records as Sputnik, around an independent rock shaped by lo‑fi, emo and shoegaze. Framed by a bedroom aesthetic, Weatherday develops long, shifting tracks built from layered guitars, saturated textures, a driving, abrasive drum sound and often filtered vocals, where fragile melodies intersect with noisier passages. The first wave of songs circulated in the late 2010s via sharing platforms, before coalescing with the self‑released album Come In in 2019, which positioned Weatherday within an international network of emo, noise‑pop and bedroom‑rock scenes. Weatherday’s world favors non‑linear structures, abrupt transitions and an unapologetic use of sonic imperfections, anchoring the project in a DIY tradition while remaining open to contemporary internet influences. In 2022 Weatherday released Weatherglow, a collaborative project with South Korean musician Asian Glow, where the sound becomes denser and closer to post‑rock, confirming Lola’s interest in intersections between local scenes and online communities. Alongside Weatherday, Lola explores more electronic and introspective registers under the alias Lola’s Pocket PC, which indirectly feeds the writing and textures of the main project.
