Bristol duo The Allergies (DJ Moneyshot and Rackabeat) bring their crate-dug blend of funk, soul, breaks and hip-hop to The Cluny, Newcastle, on 14 January 2027. Known for stitching samples, brass stabs and boom-bap rhythms into compact, hook-led tracks, they’ve drawn a straight line from old-school turntablism to modern groove across As We Do Our Thing (2016), Steal The Show (2018), Say The Word (2020) and Promised Land (2022). Their catalogue moves from block-party energy to soulful slow-burners without losing the raw texture of the original cuts.

On stage, The Allergies turn that studio craft into a live/DJ hybrid, shifting between tight edits and scratch interplay, with chunky drums, warm bass and looped horns carrying the momentum. They balance club instinct with song form, weaving in rap and soul features from their records and reshaping them for the room. Sample science, rhythm-first arrangements and a laid-back Bristol touch: a focused show from two producers who treat the booth like an instrument.
