Info
Beth Orton has long traced a line between intimate folk writing and subtle electronics, a path she opened with Trailer Park and kept refining across Central Reservation, Daybreaker and Comfort of Strangers. At Concorde 2 in Brighton and Hove on 12 October 2026, she brings that journey into the present with a set built around The Ground Above, a collection that steps onto firmer ground after the submerged, dreamlike Weather Alive. These new songs feel more direct and embodied, circling survival, integration and renewal, and they sit naturally alongside older staples.
On stage, Orton leans into guitar, keys and spare rhythms, letting grain, air and space shape the melodies. The folktronica pulse remains, threaded through organic arrangements and a voice that draws close without pressing too hard. Expect a fluid conversation between eras: the downtempo shimmer of the early records, the stripped warmth of Comfort of Strangers, the synth-tinged edges of Kidsticks and the lucid atmospheres of Weather Alive, all reframed with a clearer, grounded energy.
Across the night, she revisits a catalogue that resists neat labels, connecting past and present with an understated tension and a focus on what comes next.
