Info
On 3 July 2026 at Jazz Cafe in London, Oby Onyioha brings back the pop, disco and boogie blend that made her a key voice of Nigeria’s early 80s scene. Born in Lagos and rooted in Nkporo, she grew up in eastern Nigeria before stepping into the spotlight with I Want to Feel Your Love in 1981, written and produced by Lemmy Jackson, as the first artist signed to Time Communication Limited. She followed with Break It in 1984, digging deeper into the urban rhythms that were shaping Nigerian music at the time. Since then, her tracks have kept circulating through compilations exploring Nigeria’s boogie, funk, pop and disco from the late 70s and early 80s, anchoring her place in that story. After a long pause, she announced her return to music in 2015, and this London date threads that journey into a tight, dance-minded set.
Also on the bill, Sai Galaxy joins the lineup at Jazz Cafe on 3 July 2026.
