DJ Krush

DJ Krush arrives at 6MIC in Aix-en-Provence on 15 October 2026. A Tokyo-born DJ and producer, Hideaki Ishi has been forging a distinctive language since the early 1990s: slow or broken rhythms, dub basslines, dark textures, ambient echoes and touches of jazz and soul. Inspired by Wild Style and having come up through breakdance crews and later the Krush Posse, he launched his solo career in 1992, quickly laying the groundwork with Krush, Strictly Turntablized and Meiso. He then broadened his palette with Ki-Oku alongside trumpeter Toshinori Kondo, followed by Kakusei, Zen, Shinso and Jaku. More recently, Butterfly Effect, Kiseki, Cosmic Yard and Trickster have continued this clear line: atmospheric, precise hip-hop, conceived as much for attentive listening as for DJ mixing.

On stage, DJ Krush treats the turntable as an instrument: crisp cuts, grainy samples, sub-bass and vaporous breaths that drift from trip-hop through downtempo to ambient. Seen at Glastonbury, Coachella, Montreux, Sónar and Roskilde, he constructs sets without excess, focused on sonic material and groove.
