Unsane

Unsane brings its New York-bred noise rock to The Garrison in Toronto on September 29, 2026. Formed at the end of the 80s, the trio led by guitarist and singer Chris Spencer forged a raw, stripped sound built on serrated riffs, a heavy rhythm section and a taut vocal delivery. Early records on Amphetamine Reptile and Matador set the tone, from the self-titled debut through Total Destruction and Scattered, Smothered & Covered, then later with Occupational Hazard, Blood Run, Visqueen, Wreck and Sterilize.

Their songs lean on repetition and weight, cutting straight to the point without ornament. The lyrics circle around street-level tension, alienation and social fatigue, mirrored by a live approach that stays close to the bone: direct dynamics, tight structures, impact over flourish. Decades in, Unsane still merges noise, punk and heavy rock with a clear sense of economy, letting the music do the work. Expect an evening focused on intensity and precision, delivered by a band that treats volume and restraint as parts of the same language.
