Zentone

Zentone returns to La Cordo in Romans-sur-Isère on October 15, 2026. Born from the meeting of Zenzile (Angers) and High Tone (Lyon), the project brings together two visions of French dub that have been in dialogue since the mid-2000s. In the studio as on stage, the two groups cross their methods, layer textures and let ideas circulate to shape a shared sound, somewhere between a laboratory and a sound system.

With Messenger, their third album, Zentone extends this shared playground: supple basslines, deep delays and a reggae pulse, but also electronic textures, rock accents and echoes of world music. The tracks stretch, recombine, move into versions and then depart again, in a continuous back-and-forth between composition and improvisation.

On stage, Zenzile and High Tone play in mirror, align rhythm sections and machines, allow spaces to breathe and sculpt the material live. The performance retains the backbone of dub and its art of spatialization, while opening out into more melodic and hypnotic areas. A set conceived as much for dancing as for listening, carried by the singular alchemy of two trajectories that answer one another.
