On 28 May 2026 at Live Evil in Munich, The Builders and the Butchers will demonstrate just how close folk, rock, soul and blues can be. The Portland quintet is built around singer and guitarist Ryan Sollee, joined by bassist Willy Kunkle, drummer Justin Baier, Ray Rude on percussion and piano, and Harvey Tumbleson on mandolin. Their sound thrives on contrasts: acoustic textures alongside a dense electric drive, propulsive rhythms and narrative songs in which dusty Americana motifs blend with urban energy. The band became known above all for intense live shows, where the interplay of mandolin, layered percussion, hefty bass and gritty vocals repeatedly recharges the songs. Since forming in 2005 the U.S. group has released six albums and steadily sharpened its repertoire. In Munich they will bring this matured band sound to the stage — direct, dynamic and without frills.
