Mamas Gun

Mamas Gun will play on 26 September 2026 at Music Hall Worpswede e.V. in Worpswede. The London band led by singer and guitarist Andy Platts blends soul and pop with funk and clear references to 1970s R&B. Characteristic features are rich vocal harmonies, a laid‑back groove and arrangements that put melody and warmth front and center, with subtle soft‑rock hues.

Since their debut Routes to Riches (2009), the group has gradually tightened their sound: The Life and Soul (2011) and Cheap Hotel (2014) moved toward a more direct, song‑oriented approach, while Golden Days (2018) and Cure the Jones (2022) deepen a modern soul aesthetic spanning ballads, mid‑tempo numbers and funkier tracks. Live, Mamas Gun convey this range through detailed vocals and an organic band performance.

Andy Platts’ work, among other projects in the duo Young Gun Silver Fox, feeds into the songwriting and broadens the band’s sonic palette. In Worpswede this will be reflected in a set that oscillates between new tracks and older favourites—sometimes restrained, sometimes more driving—with a focus on the song and the ensemble’s interplay.
