Info
The Trews bring The Bloody Light Tour to Thunder Bay on February 24, 2026, at Thunder Bay Community Auditorium. Formed in the late 1990s in Antigonish, Nova Scotia by brothers Colin and John-Angus MacDonald, the band quickly took shape with bassist Jack Syperek and drummer Sean Dalton, later joined by Chris Gormley. A win at CHTZ-FM’s Rocksearch in 2002 opened the door to their first EP and the debut album House of Ill Fame in 2003.
Their sound leans on melodic hard rock, classic rock influences and a hint of post-grunge, with choral hooks and riff-driven guitars. Den of Thieves (2005), worked on with Jack Douglas and Gordie Johnson, and No Time for Later (2008) cemented a steady presence on Canadian rock radio. Hope & Ruin (2011) and the self-titled The Trews (2014) broadened the palette with ballads and acoustic turns, while the live Acoustic – Friends & Total Strangers (2009) spotlighted Colin MacDonald’s voice and the band’s harmonies. Civilianaires (2018) added denser song structures and modern textures without losing their direct songwriting. Long on the road across Canada and North America, with forays into the UK and Australia, The Trews carry both their Maritime roots and Hamilton rock DNA onto the stage.
