Info

Tortoise land at The Pearl in Vancouver on Friday, March 6, 2026, for a set built around their singular approach to instrumental music. Formed in Chicago in 1990, the group brings together Jeff Parker, Dan Bitney, Douglas McCombs, John Herndon and John McEntire. Over the years, they’ve shaped a sound where guitars, basses, vibraphone and synths cross paths with two drum kits, folding jazz, electronics, dub and minimalism into a flexible rock framework.

Their discography maps this evolution, from the long-form architectures of Millions Now Living Will Never Die (1996) to the textured grooves of TNT (1998) and the crisp contours of Standards (2001). On stage, Tortoise play with dynamics and repetition, letting patterns shift and lock, opening space for detail without losing momentum. It’s music built on interplay: lines overlap, rhythms pivot, and the ensemble steers the mood without words.

Special guests join them for the night at The Pearl. Expect a journey through different corners of their catalogue, with arrangements that keep moving while staying true to the band’s clear, crafted sound.
