Les Wampas

Les Wampas will be stopping by the Centre Socioculturel de la Blaiserie in Poitiers on March 26, 2026. Formed in 1983 around Didier Wampas, the band grew out of the post-punk scene, somewhere between alternative rock and psychobilly. Forty years on, the DNA is intact: sharp riffs, a straight-ahead driving rhythm, immediate choruses and lyrics that hit home without grandstanding.

On stage, Les Wampas cultivate an unfiltered energy: nervy tempos, cutting guitars and humor at the ready. They favor irony over posturing, spontaneity over showmanship. The setlist draws from all eras, from early scorches to more recent tracks, with that sense of electric melody that hooks you without flashy flourishes.

In Poitiers, you’ll find this mix of urgency, melody and playful insolence, carried by Didier Wampas’s singular voice and a tight rhythm section. It’s a return to straightforward, no-nonsense rock that helped shape part of the French scene and continues to focus on the essentials.
