On April 12, 2026, at the Forum Le Mans, Hugues Aufray takes to the road again. At 96, the singer continues doing what he loves: making music, guitar slung over his shoulder and voice calm and measured. A leading figure of French folk for more than 60 years, he performs a repertoire of songs that have endured through the decades: “Santiano,” “Céline,” “Adieu monsieur le professeur,” “Le petit âne gris,” “L’Épervier,” and “Stewball.” These pieces have accompanied school choirs as well as fireside evenings and continue to be sung from generation to generation.
Between his classics and a few nods to Dylan, whose lyrics he helped popularize in France, Hugues Aufray offers a program centered on song and transmission. The set features familiar refrains that have become part of the landscape of French chanson.
