If there is one band that helped sketch out the idea of twin guitars, it is Wishbone Ash. The British rock group formed in the late 1960s and from the outset built a distinctive sound around two guitars that are not opposite each other, but interlock: harmonized melodies, long instrumental passages and a solid blues- and hard rock foundation with a hint of prog.
With early records such as Wishbone Ash (1970), Pilgrimage (1971) and especially Argus (1972), the band established a style that is as narrative as it is musical, with folk accents and ample space. In the years that followed, Wishbone Ash continued to evolve, with changing lineups but always with those guitar dialogues at the core. Under the leadership of Andy Powell, the band carried on touring and releasing new material even after the 1990s, from Bona Fide to Blue Horizon.
On 21 April 2027, Wishbone Ash will perform at P60, the music venue in Amstelveen, for an evening of classic rock with sharp riffs, melodic lines and room to improvise.
