Daran

Daran has been familiar to us for a long time, first as the leader of the French group Daran et les Chaises and then as a solo artist. He has released 10 studio albums and one live album over 26 years. Huit barré, his second album released in 1995, propelled him to the forefront of the French rock scene, notably thanks to the track "Dormir dehors." The album was recently reissued by Warner for its 30th anniversary in a double-vinyl edition with bonus material.

After collaborations with Miossec, Yarol Poupaud, Johnny Hallyday, Francis Cabrel, Maurane and Jane Birkin, he announced in 2025 his return with an 11th album, Grand Hôtel Apocalypse. Daran reconnects with incisive rock and powerful melodies. The ingredients: a bass, a guitar and a drum kit. The recipe: no effects pedals, the instruments straight into the amplifiers. Eleven songs on his preferred themes: freedom, lost loves, the search for the self and, above all, the human being at the center of the stories. Written, produced and recorded between Montreal, Brittany, Mexico and California, Grand Hôtel Apocalypse fits naturally into the continuity of his career.
