Counting Crows bring The Complete Sweets! Tour to O2 Academy Birmingham on 10 June 2026. Formed in the early 90s in Berkeley, the band blends alternative rock, folk rock and an americana streak around Adam Duritz’s voice, piano lines and narrative lyrics. On stage they like to let songs breathe, shifting tempos and arrangements from night to night. Expect a set that moves between piano-led ballads and guitar-driven tracks, from Mr. Jones and Round Here to Accidentally in Love and later cuts off Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings and Somewhere Under Wonderland. Three decades in, their live show stays focused on songwriting, dynamics and the interplay between guitars, organ and rhythm section.
Will Varley opens the evening. The London-born singer-songwriter comes from the British folk circuit with a hint of alt-country, first heard on Advert Soundtracks and sharpened through Postcards from Ursa Minor and The Hole Around My Head. His songs favour plain-spoken storytelling and acoustic guitar, sometimes expanded with a full band. On stage he leans into melody and narrative, setting a warm, unadorned tone before Counting Crows take over.
