Matt Schofield

British blues guitarist and singer Matt Schofield brings his signature trio lineup – guitar, Hammond organ and drums – to Poppodium P60 in Amstelveen on 30 April 2026. Rooted in the blues, he moves toward rock, soul and jazz, leaving room for improvisation and a musical dialogue between guitar and keyboards. Live, Schofield focuses on groove and interaction: open arrangements, compact themes and lines that unfold further on stage.

Since the live album The Trio, Live he has steadily developed his own sound, characterized by a warm tone and clear phrasing. The set can draw on material from Siftin' Thru Ashes and Ear to the Ground to Anything But Time and Far As I Can See, with songs taking on new twists in the moment. He often stands beside the Hammond of long-time partner Jonny Henderson, supported by rotating drummers; together they form a band that quickly shifts between shuffle, slow blues and jazzier colors. A trio that shows what contemporary British blues sounds like when timing, dynamics and collective interplay take precedence.
