Alan Doyle brings his coastal folk-rock songbook to the Royal Theatre in Victoria, Canada, on March 28, 2026. First known as the voice and songwriter of Great Big Sea, he’s since charted a solo course with albums from Boy on Bridge to A Week at the Warehouse, oscillating between acoustic ballads and brisk folk rock. On stage, he puises dans les airs de Terre-Neuve, les refrains à répondre et une écriture narrative ancrée dans la vie côtière, avec des arrangements qui croisent héritage celtique et formats pop sans perdre l’élan collectif qui fait sa marque.
Special guests The East Pointers arrive from Prince Edward Island with fiddle, banjo and guitar front and center. Their set mêle reels et jigs des Maritimes, songwriting contemporain et touches pop, du premier album Secret Victory jusqu’à Yours To Break où pointent des couleurs électroniques légères. Les textes évoquent la vie des communautés littorales, les liens familiaux et des thèmes plus intimes, tandis que les instrumentaux avancent avec une complicité serrée. Réorganisé après la disparition de Koady Chaisson, le groupe continue d’habiter la scène avec ce mélange entre danse traditionnelle et écriture actuelle.
