Catherine Lara et la Cie Kumo

Info

On 31 March 2026, Catherine Lara took the stage at the Théâtre de la Fleuriaye in Carquefou with Compagnie Kumo. Violinist, composer and singer, a pillar of the French scene for more than half a century, she opens a new chapter by bringing her expansive playing and melodies into dialogue with the energy of a hip‑hop and break crew. On stage, her violin weaves a thread that links her signature themes and film music, while Kumo’s dancers sculpt the space with a clear, rhythmic physicality rooted in the moment.

The creation, entitled Identités, questions generations, social codes and our relation to others without explanatory detours, letting bodies and sound speak. World music intersects with urban pulses, virtuosity meets grounded floorwork, and the score is reshaped by contact with the dance. Each retains their own signature while learning to compose together. A face‑to‑face that becomes a dialogue, a passage in which the friction of styles reveals what brings us together as much as what sets us apart.
