Aqyila

In Toronto, singer-songwriter Aqyila has been steadily making her mark on the Canadian R&B and pop scene by starting on social media, where her vocal harmonies and short freestyles circulated widely before becoming her first original tracks. Aqyila reached a new milestone in 2021 with the single “Vibe for Me (Bob for Me),” which grew out of an online challenge and was developed into a full song; it established her signature blend of contemporary R&B, soul touches and gospel influences, with strong focus on backing vocals and vocal arrangements. Her music favors moderate tempos, accessible melodies and introspective songwriting that addresses relationships, self-confidence and personal transitions without excessive emphasis. In 2023 the EP “For the Better” consolidated this direction in a more coherent format around that mix of pop and melodic R&B, marking a step in Aqyila’s move from online creator to studio artist, present on international platforms and on urban and pop stages beyond Toronto.
