Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Sexyy Red develops a blunt, minimalist rap rooted in the Midwest and Southern U.S. trap traditions. First noticed through tracks released online around the early 2020s, she broke through more widely in 2023 with the single “Pound Town,” produced by Tay Keith, and its remix “Pound Town 2” with Nicki Minaj, which brought her into the mainstream rap scene.
