Under the name 1986zig, a German singer-songwriter who emerged in the early 2020s first built his audience with online covers before moving on to original material. 1986zig operates in a German pop sphere at the intersection of urban pop and singer-songwriter writing, with melody-driven tracks, strongly sung choruses and a delivery that alternates between a raspy grain and clearer lines.
