Cordovas
Based in Nashville, Tennessee, the Cordovas project revolves around songwriter and bassist Joe Firstman, between country rock, folk and Americana. Formed in the early 2010s, Cordovas first established itself on the road, stringing together tours and lengthy residencies that honed an aesthetic centered on vocal harmonies, guitars alternating between picking and electric riffs, and collective songwriting nourished by the group's communal life. The debut studio album, simply titled 'Cordovas' (2011), laid the foundations for a sound marked by traditional American country and 1970s rock. With 'That Santa Fe Channel' (2018), produced by Kenneth Pattengale, Cordovas emphasized vocal arrangements and a more cinematic approach to Americana, later confirmed by 'Destiny Hotel' (2020) and 'The Rose of Aces' (2023), both released on ATO Records. On stage, Cordovas operates as a collective where voices and solos circulate, the songs stretching toward a jam-band form while remaining rooted in structured songwriting. Present on American and European stages, Cordovas develops a repertoire where acoustic ballads, mid-tempo numbers and more psychedelic compositions intersect, always carried by Joe Firstman's voice and tight ensemble work.
