Aaron Lee Tasjan
Born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1986, Aaron Lee Tasjan grew up between Southern California and Ohio before moving to Brooklyn in 2006 and then to Nashville in 2013 to develop his solo work. A self-taught guitarist who emerged early on the New York scene, Tasjan first played with Semi Precious Weapons—where he crossed paths with Justin Tranter—before forming The Madison Square Gardeners. His trajectory then shifted toward a more personal sound, drawing on American songwriting, folk rock, indie rock, power pop and country rock, with a marked taste for direct melodies and tense arrangements. He released the EPs Crooked River Burning (2014) and Telling Stories to the Wall (2015), followed by the albums In the Blazes (2015), Silver Tears (2016), Karma for Cheap (2018), Karma for Cheap: Reincarnated (2019), Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan! (2021) and Stellar Evolution (2024). Based in Nashville but retaining a cross‑genre approach, he has also collaborated with BP Fallon, Lilly Hiatt, Sean Lennon and Irina Lazareanu. In 2022, the song "Diamond Studded Shoes" earned him a Grammy nomination for Best American Roots Song.
