Getter
Based in Los Angeles and originally from San Jose, California, Getter — born Tanner Petulla — emerged in the early 2010s on the American dubstep scene with a series of maxi singles released on labels such as Tuff Love Dubs and Firepower Records. Getter’s music was initially rooted in bass-heavy dubstep, blended with trap and bass music, featuring hip-hop–inspired rhythms and a taste for abrasive textures. The 2013 album I Want More marked a first consolidation of this club-oriented phase, while several EPs on Firepower and later OWSLA established Getter on festival and club stages across North America and Europe. From the second half of the 2010s, Getter shifted his writing toward more melodic and introspective forms, integrating vocals, pop-leaning structures, and subtler electronic atmospheres — a progression crystallized by the 2018 album Visceral on mau5trap. Concurrently, Tanner Petulla runs the rap project Terror Reid, which extends Getter’s interest in the intersections of hip-hop and electronic music, and he developed the multidisciplinary Shred Collective as a space for his productions, those of affiliated artists, and a coherent visual world.
