Kacy & Clayton

Formed in Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan, Kacy & Clayton brings together singer Kacy Anderson and guitarist Clayton Linthicum, who are first cousins, around an acoustic folk sound rooted in roots and Americana. They began releasing music in the early 2010s with the self-titled Kacy & Clayton (2011), followed by The Day Is Past and Gone (2013), where spare arrangements, delicate guitar lines and a clear taste for traditional ballads and chiaroscuro narratives already stand out. With Strange Country (2015), reissued in 2016 by New West Records, the duo broadened their audience across the North American scene. The Siren’s Song arrived in 2017, recorded and produced with Jeff Tweedy in Chicago after a tour with Wilco; thereafter Kacy & Clayton also opened for The Decemberists on several dates. Their writing remains focused on a tight dialogue between voice and strings, blending rural folk, British-tinged inflections and subtle country textures. They went on to release Carrying On (2019) and Plastic Bouquet (2020), the latter made with Marlon Williams.
