Jwles

Under the name Jwles, Jules Abecassis has been developing a French rap sound since the late 2010s shaped by time spent between Paris, New York, Grasse and then back to Paris. Initially active in English as a teenager, Jwles later shifted his writing to French while retaining a highly rhythmic phrasing influenced by the DMV flow he encountered in Atlanta in 2018 during a meeting with producer Nutso. His approach mixes rap, plugg music, everyday storytelling and forays onto house instrumentals, with a frequently detached tone and a supple delivery. Upon reaching adulthood he co-founded the collective LTR Worldwide, an important framework early on, before moving toward a more independent path while remaining surrounded by a close circle of collaborators. His trajectory solidified with projects such as Le Zin & les Autres (2022) and Bijoux (2024), as well as Le zin dans la maison (2023) made with Mad Rey, which extends his dialogue with the French electronic scene. Jwles has also collaborated with artists like Rim’K, Rowjay and Chilly Gonzales, navigating francophone rap, internet culture and hybrid performance spaces.
