Safety Trance

Behind Safety Trance is Luis Garbán, a Venezuelan producer based in Barcelona who has also been active since the 2000s under the name Cardopusher. Coming from Venezuela’s underground scene, he uses Safety Trance to work with Latin American club music—especially reggaeton and its offshoots—pushing it toward a more abrasive, tense and experimental form. Where Cardopusher aligns more with techno, industrial and warehouse registers, Safety Trance explores rhythmic writing closer to dembow, the syncopations of the Latin club and deliberately rough electronic textures. The solo project has gradually established itself as a distinct space in Luis Garbán’s trajectory, positioned between club culture, formal inquiry and circulation between European and Latin American electronic scenes. Safety Trance has also expanded through production collaborations, notably with Arca, situating the project within a wider network of experimental electronic music. In this way, Safety Trance reflects a path built across multiple contexts—from Venezuela to Barcelona—with a dancefloor approach that is at once physical, minimal and jagged.
