Cheekface

Formed in Los Angeles in 2017 around Greg Katz and Amanda Tannen and later completed by drummer Mark “Echo” Edwards, Cheekface operates as an indie-rock trio whose aesthetic draws on pub rock and post-punk, with a central focus on talk-singing and dry, observational lyrics. The band began gaining traction in the late 2010s, notably after the single “Dry Heat/Nice Town” in 2018, and cemented its place on the American independent scene through online releases and a steady live presence. Cheekface’s discography includes Therapy Island (2019), Emphatically No. (2021), Too Much to Ask (2022) and It’s Sorted (2024). Their music relies on direct guitars, tight rhythms and short melodies, with a semi-spoken delivery that gives the songs a distinctive cadence—part irony, part everyday tension, part dark humor. Across their albums the band has evolved this formula without altering its framework, remaining connected to DIY circuits, clubs and tours in North America and the UK.
