The Toxhards

Born in Southern California around a university theatre club, The Toxhards formed as a trio with Casey Donovan, Emerson Harris and Alan Powers, keeping from that starting point a very direct relationship to the stage and ensemble playing. The Toxhards operate within alternative rock with shifting contours — between nervy power pop, art rock, progressive touches and a knack for the hook — with songs capable of moving from bouncy energy to more narrative developments. The band writes lyrics where absurd humour, contemporary anxiety and self-deprecation coexist with heavier themes such as breakups, loss or addiction, without abandoning a direct tone. Before settling onto North American indie stages, The Toxhards first drew attention online thanks to music and comedy videos that circulated widely. On stage, The Toxhards extend this identity with shows conceived as living, theatrical and changeable performances, where the ensemble spirit inherited from their beginnings remains central.
