Goose
Born in Connecticut’s indie scene in the mid-2010s, Goose sits at the intersection of indie, jam-band and psychedelic pop. Based in Norwalk, the band centers on Rick Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar) with Peter Anspach on keys, guitar and vocals, Trevor Weekz on bass and Cotter Ellis on drums, in a group dynamic where composed material coexists with extended improvisation. Early shows in basements and small East Coast venues established a style built on repetitive grooves, long instrumental builds and accessible melodic songwriting. Moon Cabin (2016), recorded in a New Hampshire barn, cemented that studio direction and kicked off a run of releases in which the narrative dimension grew in importance. After several years of intense live activity documented by numerous concert recordings, Goose released Shenanigans Nite Club (2021) and Dripfield (2022), which clarified a sound of chiming guitars, enveloping keyboards and dense rhythm sections. Everything Must Go (2024) and Chain Yer Dragon (2025) continued this trajectory, exploring more contrasting moods between ’70s-tinged rock and pieces constructed for collective improvisation. At the same time, Goose expanded into major venues such as Madison Square Garden, Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Radio City Music Hall, played festivals like Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits and appeared on several U.S. television programs, anchoring its identity in a heavily documented live practice online.
