Lauren Flax

Born in Detroit and later active in Chicago and then New York, Lauren Flax has built since the late 1990s a career rooted in the house, techno, and electro scenes and, more broadly, in club electronic music. Initially part of Detroit's underground—where she performed at the Motor Lounge and at the first Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000—Flax moved from an early jungle-driven start to a broader remit, focused on punchy rhythms, acidic textures, and an approach that blends dancefloor efficiency with melodic sensibility. Based in Manhattan from the early 2000s, she has produced remixes for Le Tigre, Fischerspooner, Peaches, and Pale Blue, while developing her own releases, including the 2009 single 'You've Changed' with Sia, 2010's 'Stronger Now' with MK, and the EPs U Know (2016), It’s Ours EP: Dance Trax Vol. 16 (2018), One Man’s House Is Another Woman’s Techno EP (2019), and Let It Feel Alright/Power Chord EP (2020). Flax also served as Fischerspooner's touring DJ from 2008 to 2011 and formed with Lauren Dillard the New York duo Creep, whose album Echoes appeared in 2013. Between club productions, more atmospheric formats, and vocal collaborations, Lauren Flax moves her music between Detroit, Brooklyn, and the American and European electronic scenes.
