renforshort
Born in Toronto, Lauren Isenberg, who records under the name renforshort, has since the late 2010s developed a writing style in pop with an alternative edge tinged with bedroom pop, 1990s rock, and a straightforward melodic sensibility. After releasing online covers, she brought forward her project with the singles “Waves” and “Mind Games” in 2019, before definitively adopting the name renforshort with the Teenage Angst EP in 2020. Her music blends bright or sharper guitars, pop hooks, introspective tension, and lyrics focused on adolescence, anxiety, relationships, and the contradictions of emerging adulthood. Jeff Hazin is among her regular collaborators in shaping this repertoire. Renforshort continued with the Off Saint Dominique EP in 2021, where her writing opened more to a pop-rock format, and then with her debut album Dear Amelia in 2022, which confirms this shift toward larger-scale tracks without abandoning a personal and openly emotional approach. As releases progressed, renforshort moved between the alternative pop and contemporary rock scenes, with occasional collaborations such as glaive on “Fall Apart.” In 2024, she released Clean Hands Dirty Water EP, extending a trajectory where raw energy, short formats, and attention to melodic textures coexist.
