Gouge Away

Formed in 2012 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Gouge Away operates at the intersection of hardcore punk, post-hardcore, punk rock and noise rock. Fronted by Christina Michelle’s vocals, the band first emerged with two self-released EPs, Still Bored and Focus Your Anger, issued in 2013, before releasing their debut album, Dies, in 2016. Gouge Away employs a direct, tense and confrontational language built on abrasive guitars, compact rhythms and shifts that allow for slower, more melodic passages. After a split single featuring “Swallow” and “Sweat” in 2017, Gouge Away signed to Deathwish and released Burnt Sugar in 2018 — an album that broadened their spectrum with more dynamic songwriting while remaining rooted in nervous energy and an aesthetic drawn from both hardcore and 1990s noise rock. The band’s trajectory also includes numerous dates alongside Touché Amoré, Ceremony, G.L.O.S.S., Paint It Black, Culture Abuse and Drug Church on American and European punk and independent circuits. In 2024, Gouge Away continued this path with the album Deep Sage.
