Feldup
Emerging from the French independent scene, Feldup develops a project that blends alternative rock, indie, emo influences and ambient passages. Initially active online with a series of self-produced solo records, Feldup reached wider notice with the album A Thousand Doors, Just One Key (2020), marked by introspective songwriting and dark atmospheres, notably driven by the track "Falling Apart." This work opened a new phase in his trajectory, continued with Stared at from a Distance (2023), a record more firmly rooted in rock and built around a personal narrative in which the songs "Waters" and "Shove It" occupy a central place. Feldup's style relies on melodic guitars often laced with dissonance, abrupt rises in tension and a vocal delivery that favors nuance over spectacle, drawing from both 1990s alternative rock and the 2000s New York revival. The lyrics, mostly in English, take an autobiographical angle, addressing emotional fragility, isolation and relationships with others. Alongside his studio releases, Feldup translates this material to the stage with his band The Showerheads, giving his compositions a more direct, collective dimension.
