Sama’ Abdulhadi

Born in Jordan in 1990 into a displaced Palestinian family, Sama’ Abdulhadi grew up in Ramallah after her family returned to Palestine in the early 1990s. Her path took her first to Beirut, where she studied sound design, and then to Cairo, where she worked as a sound engineer before beginning to DJ across various countries in the Middle East. Sama’ Abdulhadi is situated within the techno field, with a style focused on tense, percussive and direct selections designed for both clubs and festivals. Her international profile rose in 2018 with a Boiler Room set filmed in Ramallah, which drew attention to the Palestinian electronic scene. That same year she launched Union Collective, a platform aimed at supporting and promoting local artists. Her career was also marked by the Nabi Musa incident in 2020, when a permitted performance at that Palestinian site was interrupted and followed by an arrest—an episode that placed her at the center of debates about electronic music and public space in Palestine. Since then Sama’ Abdulhadi has maintained an activity between Middle Eastern and European stages, including a residency at Phonox in London in 2023 and the launch of the Resilience platform in Beirut the same year.
