Pitou
Born in the Netherlands, Pitou situates her music at the crossroads of indie pop, chamber pop and classically inspired songwriting, with a strong emphasis on voices, organic arrangements and a pared-down melodic approach. Drawn at an early age to choral and orchestral music, she sang in a choir as a child — an experience that has had a lasting impact on her compositional outlook. After a first EP, Pitou (2016), and I Fall Asleep So Fast (2018), she moved toward more expansive song forms while retaining an intimate and precise writing style. Her debut album, Big Tear, was released in 2023 and extends this aesthetic — between contemplation, gentle tension and prominent vocal work. Over the course of her career Pitou has played stages such as Paradiso, Ancienne Belgique and Het Concertgebouw, and festivals including Best Kept Secret, Pukkelpop and Rock Werchter. She has also collaborated with Jungle by Night, Remy van Kesteren, Naaz and LUWTEN, and worked for film, composing the soundtrack for the short film Barlebas. Announced for 2026, P2 marks a new phase: tracks recorded with her band, more baroque forms and songs open to wider contrasts, from melancholy to more direct impulses.
