Priku

Under the name Priku, Adrian Niculae has developed from Romania a career within Eastern Europe’s minimal and microhouse scene, characterized by a precise, flexible sound with a strong focus on groove—on the border between house and techno. Active with Sunrise Booking from 2007, Priku gradually established himself in the long-night circuits and festivals associated with this aesthetic, notably through regular appearances at Sunwaves, while also playing clubs and events such as Robert Johnson, Amnesia, Tenax, Concrete and Kazantip. His discography spans several labels tied to the Romanian and European scenes, including [a:rpia:r], All Inn, Fabric, Concrete Music and Only 300 Family. In 2012 Priku released the Bobohalma EP on [a:rpia:r], and in 2013 he launched the Motif label; that same year he issued the Acoustic EP under his real name, Adrian Niculae, and appeared on Fabric 72. His name also features on the compilations Cocoon Green & Blue 2011 and Cocoon Heroes. In 2016 Priku opened a new chapter with Atipic, both a label and an event series, continuing a stripped-down, hypnotic and rhythmic approach to electronic music.
