Not Scientists

Formed in the early 2010s in France and based in Lyon, Not Scientists brings together former members of French punk groups such as Uncommonmenfrommars and No Guts No Glory around a project focused on melodic punk rock sung in English. Not Scientists craft a sound that blends the energy of 1990s punk rock with catchy vocal melodies, often clean guitars, and influences from indie rock and power pop, sometimes shaded by darker post‑punk tones. The band first drew attention on the French DIY scene and later across Europe with the EP “Staring at the Sun” (2014), before releasing “Destroy To Rebuild” in 2015, which placed them on independent venue and festival circuits. With “Golden Staples” (2018) their writing became more melodic and nuanced while retaining a solid punk foundation; “The Results Are In” (2021) continued this evolution toward compositions that are more developed rhythmically and harmonically. Not Scientists tour extensively in Europe, regularly share bills with other punk and indie acts, and have established themselves in both francophone and anglophone alternative scenes.
